Hi ALL, Any magicians out there that can fix BIG problem with many Subaru's. Couldn't get hold of the Great Wizard of US. Engine Check Light on and Cruise Control Light flashing? OBD11 check says only P0030, Oxy Sensor heater. Can anyone out there be more definitive with cause?Flashing Cruise Control light and ECL seems a very common irregularity on Subaru's that no one seems to be able to track and solve. Everyone seem at adds concerning the cause and resolution. Also anyone got a wiring diagram for a UK 2007 Forester?

Hey Keane! Is the P0030 the only fault stored? No other driveability issues?
The cruise light flashing is a common thing with Subaru's, as I'm sure you've read. It starts flashing almost every time the CEL comes on with almost any kind of P-code. Even an EVAP code. :silly: It's ridiculous, really, because an EVAP code won't impact the cruise function in any way/shape/form. But, the car is programmed to react that way.
Your P0030 should be pretty straightforward to diagnose. I found a diagrams for the US market '07 Forester - turbo and non-turbo. I'll post both for reference. I can't imagine the UK market model would be all that much different.
Anyway, even without a diagram, you stand a pretty good chance of making an accurate call.
Standard ScannerDanner O2 heater testing theory applies. Find the two like-colored wires on the sensor side of the wiring - that's the heater circuit. Backprobed with the engine rumming, check both wires for voltage with the meter connected to B-. One should have 12V, the other should be some kind of pulse width control. A multimeter will show that as a reading somewhere between 2-10V. 12V indicates an open control wire or a failed PCM. 0V indicates a shorted control wire or an open heater. Ohm check the sensor side heater wires (disconnected) to confirm a failed heater.
SD actually has a case study video on a Subaru with a similar concern. Different codes, but the testing methods you should follow are identical.

Thanks for the info TYLER. Yeah if you look on U tube Subaru's owners sure have a big problem with these Engine and Cruise Control lights. I didn't realize the ECL comes on for a C/CLight that is not faulty though, but it does stop working when the ECL illuminated but then operates when it goes off anytime when it pleases. OBD 11 reading P0030 wire colors different though and confusing. I have on sensor end 1 black into Yellow.... 1 Black into Blue/white.... 1 Blue into Green/black... 1 White into Green. Thanks again Tyler
