So I tried on a light circuit and was able to get a waveform that looked like the generic one you showed. Shape was right but really fuzzy, lots of noise? Not sure if that's the right term for all the hash on the wave. So then I tried the coil and fuel injector again and was able to get a proper shape but again so much noise that it was useless. Scope isn't made for auto so I'm not sure if it's maybe too sensitive for an automotive environment. Hate to condemn the scope but think that's the direction I'm heading.

Got a little uscope and I'm getting proper wave forms now so I guess the amp clamp is okay. Now I just have to learn to read the wave forms. Seems the more I learn the less I know.

Oh man, this is such a true statement.
Glad to hear the amp clamp wasn't the issue! How do you like the uScope?

I like it. Can see how one would outgrow it real quick but to get acquainted with scopes and wave forms I thinks it's going to be good. If I get enough use out of it I'll keep an eye out for something better but to get started it's should be perfect.
