I am here to show thanks and appreciation. I am just a humble dyi'er and enthusiast. My kid has a 2011 Ford Flex with a 5.3 Ecoboost and was getting the dtcs related to the timing chain. I took on the project. I've done many in depth projects similar to this, so I was cautious but not nervous. Everything went well. Well enough that I was confident that I did everything right. Fired the engine up to start the coolant bleed procedure and it purred like a kitty! Ran for at least 45 minutes with no check engine light, no stutters, and no problems. I sent him on his way. I was happy. 10 minutes later, he reappears at my house. He said it hiccuped and was now running terrible, blowing white smoke, check engine light. I was bummed. I spent a day trying to make a legitimate diagnosis. He doesn't have money to throw away. It had about 8 dtcs including random misfires, cam sensors out of position, O2 sensor faults, misfire cylinder 2, and a couple others. And it was blowing a constant thick white smoke out the exhaust. I couldn't shake the ick feeling that I screwed up and had to tear the engine down again just to verify the timing. But I didn't understand how it ran so perfect for that long and then just went to shit. I didn't buy it.
Fast forward a day. I checked fuel pressure and noticed it wasn't quite right. It would prime up and instantly fall off. I thought the driver module or fuel pump was bad. Then, I stumbled across Danners video on the Fiesta with the misfires and blowing white smoke. I watched both parts and decided to go buy a bore scope and hope. And wouldn't you know, cylinder 2 injector was stuck open! I checked all 6 just to be sure and only number 2 was stuck. I tore it down again yesterday, replaced the injector on number 2, changed the oil, and it runs as good as new again!!!
I just wanted to thank you for the amazing videos and expert diagnostics! You saved me a bunch of money, time, and heartache. I purchased your book and am excited to read it to hopefully be more knowledgeable in diagnostic procedures. Thank you for what you do. Anyone that gets to learn from you will walk away a stronger technician.
