Living in a small town in Hawaii. I love not being cold while working on vehicles.
Shade tree mechanic by necessity as I'm in an area with few auto repair resources and it's my kind of fun.
I have a small fleet of older cars and trucks in my life that would benefit from a good scan tool & oscilloscope.
I found a Modis on Craigslist (v11 $500) in good shape and want to learn how to use it. Bought the book and signed up for Premium.
If I learn it I'll get a newer one. It's going well so far.

Aloha to everyone here.

Welcome to the community form The Main Land ;)

Great plan, that's pretty much what I did. Bought a used Snap-On scanner, found ScannerDanner videos and started making money ;)

And a first success! My dodge dakota has had a P0123 for months now. I couldn't figure out what was causing it. I hooked up the scanner per a Paul D. video and when back probing the TPS connector and was getting a high signal voltage at closed throttle. When I adjusted a "tee" pin (from my wife's sewing basket) and shoved it in further all of a sudden the scan showed correct voltages and a nice trace. Sure enough the service engine light was finally off. It was a problem in the connector. The engine no longer stalls at cold idle and the transmission overdrive shifts properly at high speed.
