Detailed Logic for 2005/6 PCM network

Hello-
Hobbyist retiree with two WK 4.7 Grand Cherokees 2005/6.
The PCM's on these are nearly 20 yrs old, brittle, fragile and have a high failure rate.  Possibly due to high temp location near passenger exhaust header.
I am regularly dealing with multiple DTC's and the diagnosis often tedious. Would be very helpful to have better understanding of the logic in the modules.(if these inputs=these outputs)
Already have the shop manual.
Looking for documentation/class information on the workings of this particular network or related chrysler family.
Since not a business or commercial enterprise, specific to this model/year, and already 20 years old hoping to find some reasonably priced information.
Any help appreciated!

I recommend subscribing to Scanner Danner Premium if you haven't all ready. It's a great place to learn the fundamentals that will translate directly to troubleshooting inputs and outputs for your Jeeps.
I'm not aware of any material that spells out in black and white any more clearly than service information (which typically is still ambiguous) exactly how each input is decoded by the PCM to control the engine.
