Tomorrow marks 100 hundred years since the end of "The Great War" (WW1) today is the 80th since Krystallnacht. Most people know something about the horrors of the Great War if only through watching Blackadder Goes Forth. Most western countries mark the end of that terrible slaughter at the 11th hour on 11th of November, Others have different dates the end Italy's war with the Austro-Hungarian Empire was marked last sunday and in Australia and New Zealand 25th of April ANZAC Day is the main day to remember those who died in war. Every country in the world greatly suffered in that war and the 2nd World War. Like in all those wars before that followed some half forgotten about Korea, Malaya, Algeria, Suez, Vietnam, The Troubles, Falklands, the terrible continuing deaths in the Gulf Iraq Afghanistan and Middle East Wars no matter what side they were on the guys at the sharp end were just ordinary people with a mother, father, sisters, brothers wife/girl friends, sons and daughters and friends. So make an effort to remember if you don't want to go to some kind of service or public ceremony take a moment to think about the terrors they faced their sacrifice and those they left behind.

Not so many of you unless like me you have special interest in history or are perhaps Jewish will know about the 80th anniversary Krystallnacht .
Krystallnacht (Crystal Night) 9th-10th 1938 was when the Holocaust started in a major way with violence, murder vandalism, theft and terror against Germany's Jewish minority and their property. It was called Kristallnacht (Crystal Night) because of all the broken glass littering the streets from the smashed winows a of Jewish owned shops and homes.
