1 Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
So what does it mean to prosper? Is it wealth and material things? I believe the answer is no! Look at the keys to the text, "his delight is in the law of the Lord and he meditates on it day and night". When we seek God with this type of zeal, no one and nothing can take away our inner peace. And if nothing takes away our peace, don't we prosper in everything we do?

I can be as guilty as the next one when it comes to the things of this world because I stumble so many times but I'm so thankful that it's the Lord holding on to me because when we stray he draws us near,that power is certainly from above and nothing to do with us

JEREMIAH 17:7-8
7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green = (he will be renewed upward, and not grow stale)
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit. = (he will keep being productive)
Jeremiah follows this up with verse 11 - speaking about ill-gotten wealth and material things:
11 “As a partridge that broods but does not hatch,
So is he who gets riches, but not by right;
It will leave him in the midst of his days,
And at his end he will be a fool.”
The word "prosper" in Psalm 1:3 could also be translated succeed or success.
..so the question really is: How do we define success?
As the world does - Money, championships, big boy toys and the pride of life?
Or as God does - Righteous children, inner peace, glory in God, in His Messiah and in his love and mercy for us.
Imagine if someone asked you these 2 questions right now:
What do you really trust in to get things done?
What are you really hoping for right now?

This was so good! Thank you brother.
Wouldn't you agree that the "prosperity gospel" message, which is 99% of what you see on TV (your Joel Osteen types) is a false gospel leading people on the broad road that leads to destruction?
"For narrow is the way that leads to eternal life and few there be that find it."
Thank you my Father, that you have opened my eyes to the truth. May I never forget that without you I have and am nothing.

Yes, I agree with you 100% about that 99% of what is on TV.
