I recall a case study you did for crank/ no start only when cold where the cure was a etc replacement designed for Canadian models versus ones for the same US model. I believe it was a Honda. Any idea for a link?

I think you may have in mind a video made by Paul's bother James Danner
"The Danner" made a Youtube on Honda's smart alternator contol (Electronic load Detection or ELD) which is only fitted on US models not Canaidian models or any other market. The video is on the James Danner Youtube channel.
A lot of Honda owners don't trust the system and if you look around the Honda forums on the web you will find instructions on methods owners have used to bypass the system and make the charging system behave like a comvntional alternator with built in regulator. But I can't advise on how to do this or if it is a wise mod to do.
BMW also have a battery monitoring system that frequently gets by-passed by owners,
