P2122 08482 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Signal Too Low

Car had electrical problems and fuses blown and after fixing the above code prevailed.
Quick test to replace the pedal and tried couple from salvage yard as they are on the reach and no luck.

Symptoms: poor acceleration and kickdown, like the car had no turbocharger or no boost

I then decided to diagnose - below snapshot from OEM wiring diagram, all wires from connector go directly to ECU, no splices.
G79 Accelerator position sender
G185 Accelerator position sender 2

Connector pinout"
1 5v
2 GND
3 5v
4 APP1
5 GND
6 APP2

Live data shows APP2 working, APP1 always zero.

Tested:
ECU out, continuity between pedal connector and ECU connector pins (all 6 - good)
ECU out, Connector back and front probing - continuity all pins ok

Noticed that with plugged in ECU, pin 1 and 5 have continuity, i.e. back probing pin1 with front probing pin2 will have continuity and vice versa...

My question:
Did I miss anything?
Should I blame the connector or the ECU and what to replace...
Pin1 is supposed to be reference voltage and pin2 is ecu ground, could there be a short somewhere between the pedal an ECU - wiring harness is like one feet long an in a protected place behind the steering wheel through the firewall (ECU is located under the wipers)

Appreciate your help.

Hello,
I have a very similar problem with my golf 2009.
Did you manage to fix yours?
I am starting to think it might by the ECM that needs to be replaced!
