I've got this capture from an Equinox with the 2.4L. Exhaust cam in green, crank in yellow. I have an intake capture, but it was out of time, and not a good reference.
For what it's worth, I don't even scope the cam/crank for these correlation codes anymore.

I concur with not in time, you did not say if there was any codes set, nor did you state how many miles are on it, I would guess 125,000 or more.
You need to check VCT and make sure its working. Vct works by oil and changes the timing it may be stuck and testing would be my next step….
Let me know how you make out ggod luck….

Interestingly enough, I just had a 2011 Equinox roll in for the very same fault code. (Just kidding, I lied, see post further down, my actual fault code was a P0014, NOT a P0017) It is intermittent, (of course), but offers an opportunity to show you the data I usually use to troubleshoot these. This is a known good, (at least right now) , capture.

EDITTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!
I realized I made a HUGEEEEE mistake recommending the diagnostic procedure with the desired vs actual cam stuff. The fault code on my equinox was a P0014, not a P0017.
Upon going back and re-reading, I realized we were dealing with two completely different problems!
Hopefully no one in the future will get confused on this. Again, apologies for misreading brother!

Ben wrote: Thanks again Dan . confirmed it is in fact out of time from cam to cam correlation without hardly spending any time doing it
Sweet! :woohoo: I mean, that sucks for the owner, but great to confirm.
I can give you link counts from cam to cam if you end up tearing this thing down. Replacing the chains themselves is gravy.

I guess the lesson here is when you find correlation codes there always out of time don't question it lol. good luck with yours though!
This is where I'm at, on GM's anyway. The code set criteria for these correlation codes has to pass EVERY other cam/crank sensor test before it'll consider a timing issue.

Ben wrote: Thanks tyler I doubt I'll get into this motor since I was able to confirm out of time by cams I don't see a need to open it up I'm going to push a low mile engine at this customer and explain they need to keep up on oil changes. I suspect oil issues with this engine so I won't recommend a timing kit for it .
