Working on a 06 chevy aveo
Codes are P2136 APP Sensor 1-2 Correlation. Customer changed APP and TPS before calling me. I scoped it and voltages are smooth. Did a relearn and was good for 10 miles and came back. I measured 5 volt ref voltage at APP and TPS and was steady at 4.8 volts, but my data pids were all over the place and so was temp sensor pid. So customer put a ECM in it also. That didn't fix the problem either except for the temp sensor pid it is now a stable voltage.
I checked the voltage at the ECM and it is stable 4.8v
Snap on trouble shooter says APP 1 should start low and go hi and APP 2 should start hi and go low, Mine both start low @ app1 .26v and app2 .52 and at full throttle app1 2.20v app2 4.41v. It was getting late last night going to check tonight at the ECM and see what those read there.
Any ideas where to start?
Not sure if this has anything to do with my problem but the Daytime running light when shut off they come back on from dim to full brightness, customer says he is not worried about that, but I am trying to link the to together and not coming up with anything.

Thanks for the help

Hey John! I'm sure you'd have mentioned it, but no problems seen while scoping the APP sensors? I don't recall the specs, but the numbers you saw sound right to me.

For my info, are the APP PIDs still all over the place after the PCM replacement?

Personally, I'd be tempted to graph the APP sensors on the scanner and give the connector at the APP a shake. Flex the connector while plugged, and give the wires a gentle tug. Any signal changes are an obvious red flag. Mostly I'm thinking of a spread pin, or possibly some kind of pin fretting issue.

I also agree with Tyler on performing wiggle testing. Both in cabin and in the engine compartment, or whereever the harness for the APP runs.

It is fixed thanks for the help
After much frustration I redid all tests and I checked the 5volt ref's with the pedal plugged in and unplugged and noticed the one of the 5v references dropped just a little when I plugged the pedal in. So I load tested with a testlight and first 5v ref lit up and had no power drop the second 5v ref slowly and dimly lit up and power dropped to 2.1 volts. Keep in mind that I already have done these test but they were 10pm and had a long day so when I load tested it I must have not had a good ground on my testlight because I never had a voltage drop and never thought about the test light not lighting up.
I really appreciate the help..

Nice catch with the 5V ref plugged in and unplugged. :cheer: Dunno that I'd have noticed that, personally, but it turned out to be a good sign of a wiring problem!

Sounds like you found a corroded wire somewhere?
