I am attempted to test the driver window motor show in the image. it is is part of window regulator assembly. I had the assebly removed. Pins 1 & 2 for the "driver window motor" connected to an external 12v battery. Using a jumper cable, i went from battery ground to pin 3 (also then tried tried pin 7) for the driver window motor to try to see if it would make the motor activate. It did not. I then also used another jumper wire to provide power to pins 3 and 7 while providing ground (like previously stated) to the other wire 7 / 3. What am i doing wrong?
I know the motor and assembly work as i can get it to move with it completely connected to the car.
Because it is on the network on pin 4, the power window module may need a "wake up" message to become active. According to the diagram, the battery feeds are hot at all times. Naturally, the ground is always applied. If that was all it took, you could run the window with your car keys in the house.
Since it works on the car, you could scope the network on pin 4 when you key on the ignition to see what kind of wake up signal it's waiting for and try to reproduce it on the bench.
Otherwise, I think you're interpretation of the rest of the circuit is correct. Pin 3&7 get switched to ground by the master window switch. Battery negative and positive to pins 1&2 respectively and then the switch grounds pin 7 for down or ground pin 3 for up or ground pin 5 for express up.
Is there a video you can direct me to that shows this type of circuitry involving computer communication messaging in order to allow a switch input to function?
Thank you for the help. I bench tested it by jumping from the switch connector pin 4 network comms to the bench tested motor regulator and having pins 1,2,3 jumped like stated previously. Unfortunately, strangely I couldn’t get motor to activate. But plugged into car it does response. I patched car back up together. I know I was on “pin 4 network comms” too that I jumper wired because I scoped it and saw square waves. In the future if I can get back at it again I may attempt once more to figure out this conundrum.
