Ignition coil amp ramp, please help was created by Eduardo
Hi to all, please someone explain to me why the ignition coil amp ramp looks like in the pictures
2019 suzuki rmz 250 motorcycle
1 cylinder engine, 4 stroke, 2 pin ignition coil
motorcycle runs and drives perfectly, no complaints at all, i was playing with my picoscope and I tried to see the ignition coil amp waveform, this is the first time I see a waveform like that
No matter what i do i can't get a normal amp ramp waveform like any others i saw in the past
Also i notice how high is the amp reading (more than 30 amps)
i hope someone can teach me about it
Thanks

That's interesting, I have never seen a coil ramp that looks like that either

Your sample rate is very low. Increase it to 1MS/s.
This/these event(s) look, very much, like a voltage waveform, to me. What amp probe are you using? And, how is it connected?
I would like to see the voltage waveform, along with the current waveform.

Hi thanks for your reply, I was using hantek 65amp probe
I use a lot that amp probe without any issue in the pas, I have other coil amp waveforms saved and all looks normal
It was connected to one of the wires coming from the coil, then I tried the other wire, on both wires I had the same result
I have another same bike and tested, same result 😂😂
I don't have an explanation, today I'm going to test in a car or another bike to see if there's a problem with my amp clamp
Thanks

Hi please see the waveform i took a few minutes ago
2017 chevrolet malibu 4 cylinder, 1.5t
COP ignition system (4 wires)
that amp ramp looks more normal to me, that's what i was hoping to get on the motorcycle 😂😂
so now I can be 100% sure that my amp clamp is working
Any explanation on why the motorcycle waveform looks different?
Thanks for your time
