Hello all, i have a 2014 explorer ecoboost 3.5 with both banks running lean at about 30 percent per bank fuel trims. I smoke tested the intake system and its leaking where the pipe connects to the front turbo inlet, considering this is a MAP based system could this cause my problems? Also under light acceleration it seems to kind of buck and hesitate but under harder acceleration it runs good. Fuel pressures look good too fyi
My first instinct is restricted fuel injectors, especially because you noted how it bucks/hesitates under light acceleration. But there's a few more checks you can do first.
How's fuel quality? Ethanol content?
Since this is a MAP system like you noted, I'd want to see the MAP sensor and the Turbocharger Boost Pressure Sensor agree about barometric pressure, key on engine off.
Any significant misfire counts in Mode $06? I'm sure there'll be some counts, mostly just wanting to see if some cylinders are worse than others.
You can try to run the Relative Injector Flow Test if you want? But I'd take the results with some salt. Most of these automated direct injected tests struggle to positively ID an injector problem - especially if the majority of the injectors are similarly restricted.
