I have an 11 nissan 370z with a p1606 vvel control module failure. I am missing ground to the vvel control relay which is sent from the module to the relay. I checked for a broken wire from the module to the relay but it turned out good, how i checked it was I disconnected the module connector and sent power through the wire and i got power on the relay side. I installed a new/used module because i thought it had to be the module but after installing it I still had no ground going to the relay. So here is where i am stuck on what else the fault can be , any thoughts or advice on what else i can check would be grateful

ubnizmo4, I'd suggest some voltage checks at the VVEL module. Checking for power, ground and communication to the VVEL module.
Backprobed, ignition on, what is the voltage on pins:
#8 Tan
#14 Black/White
#23 Yellow
#11 Green
#24 Blue
I know you said you already checked the relay control circuit on #23 Yellow, but I'd still like to know the voltage at that pin, ignition on and backprobed.

#23 Yellow. 12v
#11 Green. around 2.5v to 4v data packets
#24 Blue. around 1v to 2.5 data packets

I believe my issue might be the ecm. Correct me if am wrong , the ecm is supposed to send ground to the vvel module through #21 violet wire and then the vvel module would detect it and send out ground on the #23 yellow wire to the relay. I am going to post more service info. just let me know if you need more data.

Sorry for the very late reply!
I think you're onto something with the VVEL relay abort signal. What does your Z show on pin #21, engine running?
As an aside, the more I look at it, the more I think this abort signal circuit seems kinda goofy. It's the ECM giving the VVEL module permission to close the VVEL relay, right? So why even have the relay control go to the VVEL module. Why not just have the ECM control the relay directly? Just wonder what the engineers are thinking sometimes...
