Hello, I have this 08 Expedition in my shop with 240,000 miles. It sets code P0018 and bank 2 VVTADV pid shows 11 degrees while idling and VVTERR pid shows -11. After raising the rpms's the ERR pid operates close to 0. Doesn't this system retard the timing when it phases? The VVTADV pid is throwing me off. Is the timing on this engine actually advanced or retarded 11 degrees? The second question is, the oil pressure is 23psi at hot idle and min spec is 25, can leaking timing chain tensioners cause this low oil pressure? Or can we confidently put a fork in it? -Brian
EDIT: I did find that this system is called DEPS (dual equal phase shifting) and it is fully advanced with phasers locked at 0% duty cycle and retards by unlocking the phasers and commanding a higher solenoid duty cycle. So in this case I believe the "VVTADV" scan tool pid was misleading.
