Help us help you. By posting the year, make, model and engine near the beginning of your help request, followed by the symptoms (no start, high idle, misfire etc.) Along with any prevalent Diagnostic Trouble Codes, aka DTCs, other forum members will be able to help you get to a solution more quickly and easily!
First time posting here. I have a 2005 Kia Sedona 3.5 liter. I recently swapped my spark plug wires and now my van won’t start. It cranks fine but the engine won’t fire.
Here is what I know.
No codes are thrown.
All fuses and relays have been checked and they’re good.
Starter has power and ground, and it seems to fire just fine.
Fuel pump has power and his working. Fuel pressure seems fine. Additionally, Adding starter fluid had no effect.
Here are my problems:
My ignition condenser was cracked. It’s giving the right capacitance reading but I know capacitors can fail in other ways. I have a replacement on the way.
I’m not getting a spark on cylinders #3 and #6, which are tied to coil pack #3. I swapped the coil packs and still not getting a spark on #3 and #6. If I measure voltage from the spark plug wire to battery positive I get zero volts. Same thing in the at the receiver for the wire on the coil pack. Measuring the other coils in the same way I get a voltage reading.
I honestly don’t know if that’s good or bag or what. It’s just different than the other coils.
is there a ground strap or wiring connection that is specific to cylinder coil #3. Is it grounded through the ignition condenser and that’s the source of all my problems?
I see online that other engines have a metal plate that goes from the ignition coil bolt to the top of the valve cover. Mine are gone. Is that for grounding?
Im afraid I have a loose ground wire somewhere. Does anyone have a diagram of all the ground points in the engine?
