TOYTOA 3VZE HOT CRANK, NO START was created by BHAGGARD86
I have a question about a issue with a current vehicle in our shop. 88' 4runner 3.0 3vzfe engine. Starts fine and has great spark, after driving once warm the vehicle only cranks, after waiting 20 minutes or so it will start just fine. Have no fuel pressure drop off, replaced the spark plugs, wires, ignition module, coil, coolant temp sensor, rotor, checked all the wiring to the ignition module as when warm it wouldn't show a signal for spark. Frustrating to say the least.

Thanks,

The only thing you haven't changed is the Magnetic Pick-up Coil in the distributor. (It's basically the Crank Position Sensor). They are famous for not sending the ECU a signal when Hot

Ohm check it when the engine is cold.
Ohm check it as soon as its a no start. (Hot)

If the resistance values vary substantially, change it out, its Magnetic Field is breaking down under the heat.

Wiggle the wires while your ohming it out to watch for abrubt changes on your DVOM, as this would indicate old tired wires.

Never stop Learning.
