it seems to be losing spark has a 5 pin ecu mounted on the firewall. what is the ballast resistor for? also any troubleshooting steps. you guys used back in the day
I never actually worked on one, but all the old school guys I know go right after the ballast resistor when those old Chryslers loose spark (with great success I might add).
I'm NOT advocating parts changing here, but I've only ever seen people change them. Whenever I ask why, the only answer I get is always "because it doesn't spark!".
I hope SOMEONE here has some practical advice, because I've always wondered how the system works. Can't be that complex.
They all think it's weird I only know about fuel injection cars lol! Those carbureted dinosaurs were already extinct by the time I got into cars...
it looks like it has a reluctor wheel inside the distributor that passes a pickup coil. wonder if I scope those wires itd be a square waveform on the scope??
