My 1985 Dodge Ram will run for 30 minutes, sometimes less then just go dead. Two minutes later start up a go again. It is erratic and has ran for days without a problem.
When starting to test the ignition I get 12V to coil positive and 4V at negative with switch in run. It's 4 speed manual and sometimes it won't start with clutch in. Put in neutral release clutch it starts. Should this 1985 have the same characteristics  as the 1978 in the youtube video with low voltage in run but 12v only on start?
I assume it's ignition related but am considering fuel. The new fuel pump filter combo work fine but clear fuel filter never fills up. It has fuel on in the bottom 1/4 or less.
It was suggested I have rust in those steel lines. I have blown them out with air even used a towel to catch contaminants. Nothing. I am about to run off a 2 gal plastic can in engine bay
just to diagnose fuel delivery. I know! Be cautious! Not on highway.

Thanks
