Got the Check fill tube message last Thursday and tried the wd40 and fuel fill funnel manipulation on the capless inlet. Went in for rotator cuff surgery next day, so can't play with it a lot... Tried starting today (Tuesday) and message still there. Pulled code and was P0457 pending. Did code reset, but still have message.
Anyone else have this and what was solution? I prob can't work on it for 6 weeks with one arm for a bit, but if it is something I can supervise, maybe have my son come over and try something.2010 Expedition XLT

Standard EVAP leak testing should reveal the fault. The computer doesn't know anything about the condition of the filler neck, only that a vapor leak exists in the EVAP system that is large enough to where it may be judged that the fuel cap (or on this case capless filler neck) may be at fault.

I had a chance to drive it 60 miles or so yesterday after doing the wd40 on the flap and inserting the oem funnel 30 times or so. The pending message went away and no message now. Maybe some crud from a nozzle, or flap is wearing out. I'll have to see how long it lasts when I start driving more again.
