98 chevy metro 5 speed manual hatchback. P0106 is MAP sensor problems, could be sensor, wiring, air filter and much more. P0300 is random or multiple misfires, could be spark plugs, vacuum leaks, injectors and much more. The problem started by going into turtle mode. About a mile later of repeatedly pressing the gas it got out of turtle mode. I turned it off when I got somewhere to pull over and it hasn't been able to start since. It does crank but will not start. I can't remember if I had gotten these codes before this occurred or not. Issues I've been having are mostly just bad idle and consuming far more gas than normal. I don't think it was idling that great and there was definitely something rattling while idle that'd stop after getting into gear. It had sat for at least a year before this occurred and it did backfire a lot at first until I got fresh gas in it. Any other details I'm fuzzy on because I was away for over a year. In the past I replaced the crankshaft and timing sprocket due to the keyway getting ruined (No bolt in the sprocket when I got it, never saw it until it was too late). I believe a lot of hoses and sensors were disconnected from the engine and it sat like that for a while with nothing covering the openings too but i can't remember what exactly other than having to put the radiator back in and filling the coolant.  If you have a link for a how to video on diagnosing any of the spark plugs or electrical involved for these codes' potential causes that'd be awesome. I appreciate any help and I apologize for any incorrectly used terms or confusion as I am self-taught so far. This is my only car and I am trying to get back on my feet after a rough few years so I can't express how thankful I am for any help.

What voltage does the MAP show on the scanner? Do you have a good feed (5v ref) and a good ground ( less than 100mv)

Assuming is never a good thing.

If I remember correctly those little Motors had to be kept up pretty good you might want to start with checking your compression your fuel pressure maybe put new plugs then see if it's worth it to keep going

Is there a way to test compression without a special tool? I planned on testing spark plugs, injectors, fuel pump, pretty much everything I could find videos for on Dr. Google but some like compression I couldnt find (maybe it didnt stick haha) I'm lucky if the ohm reader I can borrow will work. I plan on testing everything I can today/tomrrow and I'll come back with a proper update on what I can. Thanks!

If you are just starting to work on automobiles you will need your basic tools Amazon has a kit with a compression tester and a spark plug tester for about 25 to $30 you can also get a test light and a multimeter there good luck

Cool. Thanks. Yes and no on just starting. My experience is limited but I used to service tractor trailers. Mostly air brakes and replacing lights lol. Plenty of tools but nothing for testing stuff. I just got a new multimeter because the one I borrowed wasn't working. Now I'm stuck again because my car battery is dead and no way to charge it. I checked the fuse and some other stuff which were good so I'm thinking Fuel pump. Sadly I didn't find an access panel anywhere for it. Sitting at about 100k miles sounds about right that it'd fail. May take awhile but I'll update with more details as I go.
