2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L (alcohol reset) was created by ScannerDanner
Alcohol % shows 85 and customer never runs E85. Just regular gas. Engine is flooded from what I believe is a fuel curve that is too "fat" for regular gas, which is why it flooded (too wide of injector pulse).
Anyway, I am not able to reset it with my Verus, Topdon Max, or Autel Ultra.
Looking for some suggestions! This is all on video so far too btw.
I struck out on all of my searching and I'm forgetting sometimes that I have this awesome community at my disposal!
One suggestion I had from my friend Bryan Pollock was to do a battery disconnect and cap discharge. Then turn key on so PCM can see fuel level. Then turn key off and add 5 gallons of fuel.
The problem i could see (haven't done this) with this method is the engine will need to start and run for the O2 and fuel trim calculations to come into play to learn the new composition. I can't get this engine to start! And half the plugs are covered by the intake manifold. So clearing out the existing flooding condition will not be easy.
I just had my buddy Pete do a cap discharge and that did not reset the alcohol.
Looking for a lifeline here. Thanks guys!

If all else failed, I would try to reprogram with wiTECH.

I was thinking the same. You can always get the current calibration ID out of the PCM with any of your scan tools and compare to the FCA J2534 listing:
kb.fcawitech.com/article/325/j2534-flash...ty-document-699.html
Just throwing other ideas out there - Engine Coolant Temperature sensor is reading rationally? That'd be the next biggest influence on cranking injector pulse width. I don't see the 3.6L ECT sensors fail too often, but still worth checking.

To get the engine at least running if it was an E85/alcohol issue and go from there you may want to use an alternative fuel source (E85) directly to the fuel rail while the fuel pump is disconnected.

Hey, I just got one of these today exact year make and model with the same problem. Injector pulse width more than double hard start stall. Think tool won’t reset. Did you find a solution?
