2007 F150 5.4 3v Cranking No Start was created by All Okay Auto
I have been on this van for about 20 hours. It is a hot mess and wish it never came into the shop. I will give as much back story as possible. Truck was started once a week July through September and then towed to a shop up the street for a no start. Tech up there said it didn't have fuel pressure at the rail. Tech stalled on repairs for 2 months. The truck was towed in last week to my shop. Verified no fuel pressure/pump activation. Rail sensor reading 16psi Found FPCM corroded in half and suggested replacement and continued evaluation. The truck gained fuel pressure after replacement of FPCM. The rail pressure remained the same on the rail sensor at 16psi, actual was 40psi with a gauge. Inspected FRPS and found it to also be corroded and broken as well as the pigtail. Checked injector pulse, present, checked spark, present. Checked RPM on dash and in a scanner, verified. Hooked up my oscilloscope and found that I have a clean waveform for both cams and crank. For some reason I am unable to get a waveform for correlation, but both cams are in time. Customer just wants it to run, and I am unsure if the sensor would cause a no start, so I am not going to sell it unless I know it will prevent it to start. We did check the crank sensor and found oil leaking through sensor. I have an OEM in stock, so we used it. The original one was open when tested (2 wire). Grounds for PCM have been checked and cleaned. Still at 7.9 ohms. We have a hot, consistent spark. We have injector pulse, but typically only one then nothing. My injector waveform looks very strange using the amp clamp, 80ms pulse width and a straight plateau, no mountain side. I think it may be in clear flood mode. We did enter clear flood and cranked a few times and tried starting and we got a more consistent noid light flash, but still a bit erratic.
We also had voltage issues at the injectors and PCM coming from the FPRelay, fuse block, but now it is back and we are moving forward. We disconnected the exhaust and also checked intake for obstructions. The truck will not run on propane or carb cleaner. With it being a 3v, I am not too keen on pulling the plugs. Compression sounds good, but no numbers. I did an in-cyl and the waveform looked good on one cylinder.
I replaced the FRPS and pigtail so now we have correct fuel pressure being reported.
I am now focused on compression testing and trying to figure out why my injector is pulsing like a plateau at 80ms. I am going to really kicking myself if the plugs are fouled, lol. We definitely have spark according to the scope and verified one cylinder externally. It will not run on either or off of a pressurized bottle of clean new fuel.

got down to where you are describing the injector waveform and there is no waveform!!! I need it 😊 please submit
Also, it sounds like it could be flooded? (why it won't start with a fuel source) We need to see one plug.
Does Cranking cadence sound like it has good compression?

After you do that. I need better captures of your injectors.
A sync signal on one injector (voltage waveform) and the amp clamp on a common fuse they all share. Even if the coils are on that same fuse, that's okay. But I need that sync with it!

Paul, the truck started with new plugs, lol. Would you like me to send you any scope data? I can drag it back out tomorrow and get it hooked back up. if you would like.

No, only if it still didn't start. So it was flooded then!
Now to be sure you know why that happened, so it doesn't do it again.

So I believe that the truck was flooded from having multiple no start conditions and continued cranking from us, the owner and the other shop, that and when it was still starting, only running for a minute to be moved in the yard for mowing. I am going to go manipulate the harness for the injectors again to make make sure we didn't misdiagnose it as plugs and it starting due to the movement of the harness when doing the compression test and plugs.

100% then, you'll be fine. Tell them to run it longer!!
