I have a customer's 2014 Cruze 1.4L in my shop that has had various low power issues. We replaced the turbo for an under-boost condition and fixed that. Don't know the history before that. Now the car will randomly surge and stutter almost like it's misfiring but according to scan data, it's sensing an engine knock and retarding the timing. If the engine is knocking, it is too quiet to hear it when the fault occurs. Several times I noticed a small ticking noise at idle. Do you have a good way of testing the knock sensor to see if it's detecting eng knock falsely? BTW I am seeing individual pids for every cyl knock detection and only 1 sensor. Cyl 1 is the most active. It set P0324 once. -Brian
We had one a while back that had knock sensor codes and no noise 90 percent of the time just a little on start up. We found the timing chain plastic guides had broken into little pieces and was getting sucked against the oil pump pick up.
