I have a 2009 Buick LaCrosse with the V6 VVTI in it. It has a cam/crank correlation code. Im 99% sure it’s out of time but I would like to learn how to properly use an oscilloscope. It has a exhaust and intake camshaft sensor for both banks (4 in total). How would one go about testing with an oscilloscope? Does it matter what cam sensor I use, which bank I use? It also has two signals for the crank sensor.

What scope will you be using?
Aside from capturing the signal(s) and comparing it to a known good;
If you have a scope that can set a trigger on the crank signal, you can observe the CAM signal for variance. With a Pico this is an easy task using the cursors.
Usually the PCM will set the code for 10 degree+ variance

I have access to a snap on triton scope, and an Autel scope. Would I need to capture both banks ( all 4 camshaft sensors) and the crank sensor to do a correlation test?

Here are some Bank 2 Known Good Correlations.
You must have a late model to have 4 Cam sensors, so under Service Info it's a 2010 model year.
This is the engine that is prone to the crank gear slipping on the Crankshaft because it is pressed on and not keyed.
Do you have codes for both banks?
Using a scan tool what are the timing variances?
This has a 30 tooth crank sprocket so 360 degrees divided by 30 gives us 12 degrees.
If memory serves me correctly the PCM will set correlation codes maybe 10 degrees plus.
