I have a customer with a 2014 Sentra that needs a CVT swapped out he has purchased a low mileage used one and wants me to swap it All Data say to drop motor and tranny out the bottom as a unit then split once it is on the floor. Does any on know if the engine can be left in place and the K frame be lowered and done this way? Also looking to see if any one knows how much fluid I will need to refill it is $16 a quart and dont want to have a lot of extra kicking around at that price.

Hitting it with a Hammer is worth $5 knowing where to hit is worth $40

Here be dragons ! A good 2nd hand Nissan Jatco CVT is rarer than golden unicorn dropings. There is a good chance the replacement transmision will be in worse state than the one coming out. A small company down the road from me is contracted to Nissan Uk to produce factory exchange units --- they are working at full capacity.

Same goes for most CVT transmissions. Very rarely do I sell a used CVT trans that doesn't come back before the warrenty is up. Or install one that doesn't require a replacement in short order. I guess they just haven't worked it out yet....

I've never worked on a Sentra that new, but I can't imagine that little car would require such a process, unless the transmission isn't very easily uncoupled from the engine. Maybe it just needs a bit more room to separate than they give you in the car?

AllData says 7.25qts capacity.

Do Nissan CVT transmissions require any form of TCM encoding after replacement of trans?
Or is it a simple "plug and play"

I don't see why you couldn't leave the engine in the car on this one. Maybe it has to do with engine mount placement on the K-frame?

If it's anything like the other Nissan CVT's I've worked on, you'll need some kind of pressurized bottle to get fluid into the trans after installation. One of those goofy pull-a-plug-to-check-the-level setups.

Just saw a 2013 Altima with around 70,000 miles and a torque converter clutch codes. These things seem to be made of glass...

I am not a big fan of Jatco transmissions both the CVT and slushbox, back in the day transmissions like the BW35, Torqueflite, Powerglide and Turbo Hydramatic were pretty well indestructable.
