adjust ignition timing plus 4 degrees for 10 % ethanol fuels?
is anyone doing adjustment of ignition timing to compensate for 10 to 15 % ethanol in fuels ? I've read comments that some gas stations are selling as much as 15% ethanol which in older cars can't be good. my 07 3500 wasn't running bad in its youth when there was no ethanol in its gas. it wants to know if a re set of its timing might be a good idea. .
I have some friends running some serious set ups, they are going pretty nuts to run flex fuel (we just don't have it in MA). And one of the "benefits" of running e85 is being able to add more timing.
I don't think that 10% I see at the gas pump is enough to necessitate manually adjusting ignition timing.
Van From Hell, right? I think there would be more Express vans running around with the same problem if it was the ethanol in the gas.
