It's a 2006 Jeep Commander 4.7L. Alternator is not charging and the alternator has been replaced and checked to see if its working properly. Alternator is good, and battery cable to alternator is good. Any suggestions on what to do next?
FOR ANYONE THAT WANTS TO KNOW THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION ABOVE...
I CHECKED WIRING AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. BROWN/DARK GREEN WIRE WAS THE CONTROL VOLTAGE (12V). I WAS READY TO GIVE UP UNTIL I CHECKED THE SERPENTINE BELT PLACEMENT, TURNS OUT THE PERSON THAT PREVIOUSLY WORKED ON IT REPLACED THE SERPENTINE BELT AND PLACED IT WRONG MAKING THE ALTERNATOR TURN THE WRONG WAY.
SOLUTION: FIXED THE BELT TO CORRECT SPECS.
Very curious.
I believe that any pulley that touches the same side of the belt as the crank pulley must turn the same direction as the crank pulley, no matter what route it takes to get there.
Was the smooth side of the belt on the alternator pulley creating the reverse rotation?
Either way, I'm glad it's working again!
