Symptoms include intermittent “check charging system” warning lamp comes on followed by the battery light. Codes are
P0563-system voltage high
P0625-generator fieldF terminal low
P065B-Generatr control circuit range/performance
P06E9- engine starter performance
The check engine light isn’t illuminated, I’m assuming because none of these codes are current DTC’s. The customer replaced the batter him self and when that didn’t fix it, he brought it here. Initially I did the following checks, batter, battery terminals, alternator state of charge, exc. everything checked out good, nothing to sell at this point. I took it on a test drive and everything was fine until I pulled over and sat with my foot on the brake but vehicle was still in drive. This does have the start/stop enabled so the engine wasn’t running.. I was stopped for a good minute maybe minute and a half when I took my foot off the brake the truck stalled, I put it in park and restarted it, drove about 100 yards and pulled over again, same thing, vehicle in drive, foot on brake and engine off, when I took my foot off the brake the engine started as it should but now I have the “check charging system” warning lamp on and battery light. On my way back to the shop, the warning light went away and so did the battery light. I also noticed the start stop was disabled and I can’t turn it back on. Not sure if they’re related or not? Not really sure what to do, vehicle was showing 14.5 volts when I got back to the shop. Charging system seems ok but why the hiccups? Any one else experience this? I also checked fuses, forgot to mention that. Any help/direction would be appreciated. Even if just helping me understand the charging system it’s self, that would be great, seems to be pretty complicated from what I’m reading on Mitchell.
