2003 dodge 5.9 mill lamp issues was created by Milli
Hi I am new to the forum been a fan of scanner danner for years even bought the book.my problem is I have a 2003 dodge 2500 5.9 diesel I hooked up Actron 9580 scanner to monitor thermostat opening after flush and new thermostat and scanner keeps loosening communication it gave an error and said problem with mode 10 so looking closer at scanner data notice it said mill lamp malfunction scrolling across bottom of scanner. The mill lamp functions normal koeo light is on koer mill lamp goes out so I pulled out snap on versus pro and seen that is says the lamp is on with engine running but it’s not lit on dash.bought truck with 150 injectors and 4” exchaust so I don’t know if a tuner created this problem but there is no physical tuner on the truck.or I have problem that needs solved.any help in the direction I should go solving it would be helpful

If mil lamp is commanded on by ecu check wire coming from ecu to instrument panel cluster for mil lamp signal at ecu then at ipc. Odds are wire is broken/ cut.

The lamp comes on with engine off and goes out when engine is started but snap on verus shows it has two separate pids one says mill lamp is on and one more says mill lamp is off. So would that still make sence with broken wire.just makeing sure I’m not miss understanding what your suggestion is would mill lamp even come on with broken wire and go out after starting engine or if ecu is saying it’s on wouldn’t be on with engine running.

The instrument panel cluster does a bulb check to see if bulb functions in key on engine off. Watch data pids when key on engine on. do they change?
