1992 Corvette Running Rough. was created by Bziggy
Hello. So I have a 1992 Corvette. I started it last week and ran for a few minutes and then it started running really rough for about a minute and stalled. It turned out the ignition control module was bad. Replaced it and got it started but it still runs rough. It doesn't run rough all the time. It comes and goes. It might run just fine for a few miles and then run so rough that it almost stalls, then smooth out and run good again. It's very intermittent. I've been getting different codes. The first one was code 16 saying there's a problem with the automatic timing control. After replacing the ignition module that code hasn't come back. Then I had code 74 which is for the traction control system/ABS low voltage. I cleared that code and it hasn't come back. Now after it has ran rough for a while I get code 63 which says the right O2 sensor circuit is open. I would have to think that if the O2 sensor was bad or there was a broken wire it would always run rough. Is it possible that it's a bad ground or a problem with the ECM? I did replace the distributor, plugs and wires a few years ago because of the same issue with it running rough. After the repair it ran perfect. I only have probably 200 miles on it since the new distributor was installed. Is it possible for the opti in the distributor to fail so soon? Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Probably the injectors. South main auto on YouTube has a video of a 92 corvette. You need to current ramp them like in the video on his YouTube channel

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a link to the video? I can't seem to find it. I wondered about the injectors but I thought if that was the problem it would run rough all the time. I suppose and injector could be occasionally shorting and shutting down a whole bank of injectors.

As it turns out the ignition coil was bad. I replaced it today and it's running perfect. I'm certain that's what fried the ignition control module. Glad I didn't do the dreaded distributor job just to end up with the same problem.
