MIG welder :-( TIG was created by Andy.MacFadyen
I used to have a friend who did all my welding but he is long retired
I spent too many hours in the last couple of weeks fixing and fiddling with my 20 year old MIG welder which has been lying in a corner for 12 years. After installing a complete new torch and liner I got it up and sort of running.
It isn't a great welder (it is a SIP brand !!!!!) and the same goes for its owner and I was using gasless wire as a result I then spent an hour or so making a very neat patch panel and an hour to weld it on and three or four hours to fix all the holes I had blown :-( but the job is done.
As a result I have been thinking of buying a TIG/MMA inverter from Youtube reviews it seems some of the cheaper ones seem to be a lot better than you might expect and better than cheap MIG units.

TIG welding is harder to learn and requires better fitting parts to get to work correctly. The bonus is that you can stick weld with the same power supply.

A good MIG welder is very versatile .If you have not welding in a while then it will take a bit of practice. Flux core wire is OK but is not great for thin stock. You also need to make sure that you are using the correct diameter of wire for the thickness of metal, and make sure the liner, feed rollers, top, and liner match. Some people will try to push .023" to .030" through a 0.035"~0.045" liner which is asking for problems. A lot of folks have the tendency to put too much tension on the feed rollers which just flattens the wire, and makes shavings that plug up the liner.

I got a nice 115v Lincoln 140amp more welder from a pawn shop a few years back and I love it. Best $100 I ever spent.

I'm not familiar with your machine, and I know you know your stuff ;)
But I think it's worth noting that switching between gas an can gasless welding requires reversing the polarity.

The shops mig was reverse polarity when I started working there. The mechanic was hesitant to listen to my advice until he noticed how much cleaner my beginners welds were compared to his work.
