43 years ago I left home to join my first ship in Rotterdam :-) The BP tanker SS British Trident 274,000 tons was one of the last of the big steam ships built. At that time she was almost brand new from her builders Mitsubishi Nagasaki. She was bound for Kharg Island, Iran via Cape of Good Hope. The vast ship ended her days in 1996 run up on Gandani Beach Pakistan where she was hacked into small pieces with no more than human sweat and hand tools. :-(
