Solder a OBDII connector was created by spit64
One thing I notice when a bought a new OBDII connector, signal ground, and chassis ground is connected internally, that for me is not so smart but I don't know, in the other end I have a DB9 connector that I connect to an Arduino board for some testing and learning and I think it will not be a clean signal with chassis ground but this is the way connector is constructed I was surprised, no Chinese connector. any thoughts about it I guess scan tools connector are the same. Pin 4 and 5

That is a fairly normal practice though not ideal.
