Question about 1st generation modis was created by johnathon.balderas
Just recently got 1st generation modis and the battery doesn't last very long. Would it be OK to use the scope while hooked up to the vehicle.

Hiya, just plug your modis into the 12v supply using the battery supply cable if you have one of course, they do suppy a vehicle battery lead with croc clips so you are able to connect to the cars battery or even a slave 12v supply.

Hey johnathon. I've never had an issue using the scope with the OBDII cable plugged in at the same time.

The OBD cable will actually ground the scope.
I can remember using my modis with the OBD cable connected, and going to check power at the battery just to check my connections, and a spark jumped from the lead to the battery before contacted it.
Could have been unrelated, but it could have hurt something too.

That's all I use as my battery is completely dead. There apparently are no new batteries. You can get yours "rebuilt" though. Dead batteries bring up to $60 on Ebay (last one I saw)
