Congratulations on your shop for getting the Verus Edge, I had a chance to use one and I like it more than the Verus Pro. And to answer your question about the updates, Yes there is a fee to update the software. There are two updates a year, which can either be purchased when they are release or pay a monthly fee to spread out the cost of the updates.

Hi there, yes it's true the best things in life are free, but the next thing to it you usually have to pay for and that goes for your updates on the verus. The good news is it's a fantastic piece of kit (in my opinion anyway) My advice is to watch Paul's training videos on the verus, they give you so much more than just getting used to your new tool,in fact even if your shop buys a different scanner you should still watch them, anyways I hope you enjoy the verus as much as I am doing

Seriously! The training series for the Verus is great. Way better than the canned training from the Snap-On web site, and miles better than any Snap-On sponsored training event I've ever been to.
