I've been leaNing towards the vantage/autel combo since we have the verus edge at work. Sometimes I think "do I need to spend the money since we have the edge at work" but then 1 scantool for 3 techs can be frustrating and I think if I'm going to be a serious diagnostician then I need my own scantool and scope

It's a great scanner, and it's a great scope (for me any way), but I find myself more and more reading the component test instructions on the Verus, and hooking up under the hood with my old Vantage.
Maybe they've got it streamlined with the Modis Ultra, but I'm not so sure I want another scanner/scope combo tool when I'm done with this one.
Just my two cents.

I'm with Noah, though, as far as buying another scanner/scope combo. In the future, I'll probably be buying separate tools.
The Autel isn't a bad tool, either. It manages to cover the gaps that Snap-on has, and be way more affordable.

One thing I have noticed after playing with the MODUS Ultra, ETHOS and a SOLUS Ultra is they all have the same scanner software. You can only graph 4 PIDS at a time on all 3 scanners. It basically comes down to this:
MODUS Ultra: Scanner/Scope (2 channel) with Troubleshooter and component tests
SOLUS Ultra: Scanner with Troubleshooter
ETHOS: Scanner only, smaller screen
If I could do it over I would have gotten an AUTEL and a Vantage Ultra. Of course a PICO would be nice to have as a Scope

That might be a deal breaker right there. If I get the modis ultra then I will likely still want another scan tool so I can use the scanner and scope at the same time if needed. Plus I kinda like using a wireless scantool vs being wired to the carRo-longo wrote: When I was choosing a scope/scanner combo back in 2015, I was looking into the MODUS Ultra and the thing I did not like was you can not use the scope and the scanner at the same time. I ended up with a Vantage Ultra and ETHOS Tech.

You need to open the component test meter.
select any old test of any part. You can re-scale the scope for whatever you're testing .
once you've got that opened up, on the top left of the screen (Verus) theres a tab that says "Meter" with two opposing arrows. This tab should really be included in the 4 channel lab scope, but you can only access it using the component tests.
Clicking that will put the scope window into it's own smaller window you can move around on the screen, then you can click the home tab and open up the scanner. Just like on your pc, the scope tab will be in the task bar, all you have to do it click it to bring it up into view with the scanner.
Hope that helps!

Yeah, it won't run the scanner and scope at the same time.
